We finally finished our first week of the program, but it feels like its been months since we've left the US!! I feel like I've learned so much more than I ever expected to learn here, which makes me glad we've only just begun! Though far from even a German child's German, my German speaking and reading abilities have gone from zero to good enough to navigate a new city's public transportation.
Speaking of which, I would also say that this week has also been a week of accomplishments! From surviving a 6mile long bike ride in the center of Berlin (which was both amazing and terrifying) to successfully mastering the Berlin public transportation system, I would say that this week is 2nd only to the realization that I had successfully finished my first year of vet school.
With the start of the first free weekend, Catherine and I have safely made it to Munchen (that's Munich for all us Americans) where lederhosen have already made their appearance and large glasses of beer have been purchased and drunk at the English Garden's beirgarten. Tomorrow's the beginning of yet another German adventure to the Dachau concentration camp outside the city and a trip to Munchen's famous haupbrahaus brewery. I'm excited and hope this amazing summer weather keeps up!
