Success!

After a long day of traveling, we have arrived in Bonn.  It's such a beautiful city with unique buildings and beautiful parks.  I can't wait to explore it more tomorrow!  I tried to post the following entry several times before we left, but Blogger was down. So here it is!

T minus 24 hours till I’m on plane to Frankfurt!  I’m really excited for the trip, but I didn’t expect to be this nervous.  I spent a summer abroad at Oxford during undergrad, so this isn’t my first rodeo so to speak.  However, except for weekend trips, I stayed in one location for the entire summer.  This trip, on the other hand, will include lots of travel within Germany and to neighboring countries.  Also, I didn’t have to worry about a language barrier during my time in Oxford (as long as I knew how to form a queue and get my bag out of the boot).  I traveled to Italy and Greece during that summer, so I know how frustrating a language barrier can be.  I also have my fingers crossed that all forms of transportation run smoothly this trip.  Last time I experienced the whole gambit of issues with planes, trains, and ferries.
I’m really looking forward to the veterinary aspect of this trip.  I think it will be interesting to gain an international perspective on veterinary medicine.  Do German vet students hear the “real doctor” jokes?  Do they dread the same classes we do? What do they think about American vet students?
Overall, I think this is going to be an amazing trip and I’m really looking forward to traveling with some of the great friends I’ve gained over the past year of vet school.  Now I must go say a prayer to the transportation gods in hopes that at least this part of the trip will go smoothly!
