On top of the world!
I can't believe this week is only halfway over and we have already explored two different cities! We have done so much already, I don't even know where to start. I guess the thing that sticks in my mind the most right now, since we did it today, is our rooftop tour of the Cologne Cathedral. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity that gave me a whole new prospective of the city of Cologne. I was crazy to be on the rooftop of this majestically historic monument while learning all of the history behind its existence and completion. It is difficult to describe what it felt like to be on the top of the cathedral, on one hand I was hoping the the scaffolding was really secure so that I did go plummeting to my death, but that was only a small fear that was out shined by the feeling that we were on top of the world! Away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life and closer to God and the heavens above. It was so peaceful and surreal up there as well as quite calming. It really gave me the opportunity to appreciate the grandesque nature of architecture from centuries past.
