AMSTERDAM!
Today was our one full day in Amsterdam and we covered a lot of ground. We took an audio-guided canal tour by boat around the city, which also served as our "bus" to get us to our many destinations. First we went to the Anne Frank House museum which was an incredibly impactful and solemn experience. Walking through the building where the Secret Annex was actually built makes the diary of Anne Frank truly come to life. Then we went to the van Gogh museum where we saw many beautiful works of art created by van Gogh himself, people that inspired him, and people that were inspired by him. The textures and patterns in the paintings were brilliant, it amazes me how some people can take millions of little splashes of color, place them on a canvas and create a vivid masterpiece. We also went to Picasso's exhibit in the van Gogh museum. After raiding the gift shop and getting some awesome van Gogh posters (that must somehow survive three more weeks...) we topped off our day by taking some awesome jumping pictures in front of the the "I AMsterdam" giant block letters. This was a great weekend and I'm looking forward to what this next week brings... Hannover, here we come!
