To recap our last few Parisian adventures:
On Monday morning, Catherine and I went to the Louvre Museum. Luckily, we thought ahead, arrived early (right around 9am – opening time), AND purchased tickets online in America. This saved us a good number of hours of waiting in line after line. After swiftly entering the museum, we turned on our legally downloaded Rick Steve’s Louvre Museum audio tour and began our journey into the world of art. Now, I’m no artist…not by any means, but the Louvre is AWESOME!! To be surrounded by masterpieces of all types from all different time periods was amazing. The best and most entertaining room was of course the room that contained the treasured Mona Lisa. Hordes of people surrounded the small little painting, and Catherine and I realized, when getting an up close and personal picture with the Mona Lisa, all bets are off! We burrowed our way through the crowds, throwing elbows, and holding our ground when pushed from all sides. When we finally made it to the smaller-than-you’d-think-painting, we took turns taking pictures with it and dove back into the crowd trying to find our way out of the carnage.
After leaving the Louvre, we walked made our way to the Arch de Triumph, where we took many beautiful pictures and ask many strangers to take pictures of us at the Arch. Then a few minutes down the street we made our way to the Laudree bakery, famous for their Maracons (small pastries of all flavors sandwiched around delicious filling!). These pastries are DELICIOUS bites of heaven (and NO, I am NOT exaggerating). It was a wonderfully sweet ending to another great Parisian day. Next, we leave for Basel, Switzerland were we'll see what Novartis has in store for us!
