Today we took a tour of the city of Basal and went to the natural history museum. We started at the fountain of Tangalee and got to see lots of interesting buildings and places including “barefoot square”, so named because of the monks who habitually went without shoes in and around their abbey which was on the square. The museum was really cool and I got to see a stuffed Quagga and a stuffed Okapi. Oh, and Dr. Wasser is off the hook so to speak because there in the corner with no plaque or anything was a Narwhal horn. Check that one off the list. Having finally seen one in person I can see why they were mistaken for Unicorn horns in the Middle Ages. After Quagga, Okapi and Narwhal excitement we then got to see a beekeeper open the demo hive to remove some of the bees. While he had the hive open he was handing bits of honey comb out to all the little kids, and some big ones too. The honey was delicious and the bees were cool too.
