Yesterday we took a tour of the Novartis facility in Basel, Switzerland. They have an amazing facility, and they talked to us about a new drug that has just been approved for use in the USA, so we will be able to get it soon! It is an NSAID for cats which is pretty exciting! they also taught about the process behind formulating and testing and approving new pharmaceuticals, which was a fascinating view, that we usually do not get. They also showed us their parasite research lab, and their colony of research dogs!
Today we got to take a tour of Basel, and it is such a beautiful city. All of the fountains in the city use drinking water so you can fill your water bottles in the fountains! We also visited the natural history museum and saw dinosaurs and mammoths. They also had a beehive, and we got to watch as the keeper changed out the honeycomb and split the hive! it was a very different experience, that you could never have gotten back home!
