First stop in Germany = success! The trip so far has been awesome. Somebody in our group must have really good karma because the weather is fabulous which makes walking around town or along the Rhine or through organic farms all the more enjoyable. It’s been really great how in the last couple days we’ve been doing a lot to experience German culture as well as getting to talk about different aspects of veterinary medicine.
Bonn is very easy to navigate so we haven’t had any trouble getting around on our own, although getting train tickets from a (very nice) lady who didn’t speak any English was an adventure. Got to eat at very authentic German brewery restaurant which was tasty. The best though has been the gelato but we absolutely cannot keep eating it twice a day or none of my clothes will fit by the time we get back home!
The Cologne cathedral was wonderful and I’m glad we got a chance to see it and go inside. The architecture is amazing and it was really exciting to see the holy relics of the 3 wise men inside. Dinner on the grass along the Rhine afterwards was perfect.
I’m very excited about heading to the Netherlands tomorrow because the mudwalking tour is sure to be fun and I can’t wait to see the seal rehabilitation facility. I’m hoping we’ll maybe get to be up close with some of the animals there but I figure probably not. It’s going to be a very interesting end of the week and then it’s on to Amsterdam!
