It’s midnight in Prague right now while I’m writing this and I’m jetlagged! I can’t wait for the Germany program to start on Monday, I know it’s going to be a blast.
I first considered going to Germany with the program because my roommate Sierra was planning on going and asked me if I’d like to join in on the fun. After learning about what the program entails and hearing reports from last year’s crew, I decided there couldn’t be a better way to celebrate my last summer break! With experts creating our itenerary, this will be an excellent way to get to know Germany and its culture. Spending time with the host students will be another chance to get an insider’s view of both Germany in general, and German veterinary medicine.
I expect the trip to be packed with fun, unique experiences, and learning. I think we have a great group participating in the program this year which will just make things that much better. Some of the activities like the seal center and mysterious mud tour will be new and likely something I won’t have a chance to do again. Knowing the German students had to sit through one of our painfully boring Public Health lecture this semester, I’m sure there will be some dull experiences for us as well, but it’s all part of the process.
Packing was probably my biggest anxiety about the trip. I’m going to be in Europe for a total of five weeks, so carrying my bag on the plane seemed impossible. I was also worried I would forget something important, especially because I had to do all my packing during finals week. Now that I’m over here in Europe, I think I have everything I really need and hopefully won’t throw my back out lugging (schlepping as Dr. Wasser would say) my back pack around for the next five weeks!
Can’t wait to meet up with everyone on Monday!
