Week 3 - Berlin and Busum

Berlin
Berlin was huge, but it had a very interesting history. The city tour was great. I really enjoyed learning how much WWII affected the buildings. I found it astonishing that over 80% of the buildings were new since the war. I'm glad we were able to spend an afternoon in Sachsenhausen. It was a different experience. Could have spent longer there. Then touring the city hall was cool. The views were spectacular. The Leibniz Institue was very interesting. The amount of research that they produce was incredible. I thought the CT imaging into 3D moving images was amazing. It blew my mind.

Busum
Busum was beautiful and relaxing. I really enjoyed the seal center that they have for rehab. I also enjoyed the dissection day at the pathology lab. That was the best thing ever! It was nice for them to allow us to help. The seal we had ended up with most likely a systemic infection. It had no lung worms! The porpoise died from asphyxiation due to a fish stuck in its larynx. So bizarre. After trekking through the Wadden Sea, which was pretty cool and very weird feeling from the mud, we relaxed and shopped. The town center was too cute. I loved it. We also found a zip line and everyone enjoyed it. Had some competition of who could get the closest back to the platform. I think Val won in the end.
