It was really interesting to hear about the history of vet medicine and to see how far we've come. I must admit that many of the instruments looked more like torture devices than medical instruments, but they did their job. Plus they were able to do quite a lot with what knowledge they had.
That night was the sportsfest and a party which was hosted by the TiHo students. The sportsfest was fun because the people playing soccer where the students and faculty. Chris and allison joined one of the teams and although they didn't win, neither did they lose (USA! USA!) They also had a dog race which was a lot of fun to watch. Aisha, Shannon's host's dog rand and was doing well until she was bowled over by a rampaging pug. Very sad. The party didn't start until about 10 officially but the people didn't really get there till closer till 12 and I must admit that I punked out and went home before then. The German vet students definitely seem to take their fun seriously.
Cuxhaven was a lot of fun and I loved the story about the donkey, dog, pig and rooster. Apparently as the fable goes, all the animals had come to the end of their useful working lives and rather than risk the chopping block, they ran away. All the animals met up with one another on the road and went back to their former owners and together made suck a racket that they scared their owners away and could then live out their natural lives in peace. I think the fable was set in Cuxhaven because their were statues of these guys all over town. Very cute.
